About the PHS Library Media Center

The Henry V. Diodati Library and Media Center supports the mission and curriculum of Portsmouth High School and builds the foundation needed to transform students into lifelong learners, independent readers and respectful, responsible, ethical global citizens with the ability to make positive contributions to the world around them.

The Henry V. Diodati Library and Media Center embraces an open access/flexible scheduling philosophy. Open access means that students continue to use the Library Media Center on a regular basis to exchange books, receive guidance in selecting appropriate materials and use library resources. This encourages inquiry and is good practice. Teachers and the Library Media Specialist plan for circulation of materials and think about how the LMC can ensure all students will use the library on a regular basis.

The Henry V. Diodati Library and Media Center encourages state-wide resource sharing as a member of RILINK (RI Library Information Network for Kids). If materials are not available at this LMC but are at other district or state libraries, they may be ordered and delivered to this LMC. Electronic access to  RI public and academic libraries is also available.
